Community Update - 8/25/2015
We just completed our regular call with Meritage and Kuester and I wanted to share the latest updates with everyone. (some of these items are new based on questions we've received from the community since the last update)
- Sport Court - This is mostly finished; the only outstanding work left is the coating process. Anticipated completion time is 1-2 weeks
- Water Pressure - Supposedly the pressure should be better now, however I have not personally noticed any difference (and have heard the same from other residents) so we've asked Meritage to further investigate this
- Boat Storage - We are waiting on Duke to run power so that the electronic gate control can be installed. Everything else is complete (other than putting placards up to mark each space). Anticipated complete time is hopefully 2-3 weeks (this is dependent on Duke Power, apparently several of the builders in the area are having issues with them getting jobs completed in a timely fashion)
- Area behind Swimming pool - Mowing should be happening more regularly now. The playground is still scheduled to be installed this fall
- Lakefront Amenity - No change; construction should start later this year
- Streetlights - The list of homeowners (and their lot numbers) that requested refraction shields has been forwarded over to Duke Power
- Irrigation - The irrigation north of the entrance is not working due to the power issues. Meritage is working on rectifying this. They will also investigate why there is some dead foliage south of the entrance
- Pool Cover - No change; Kuester is planning on purchasing and installing a cover this fall
- Pool Water Fountain - This has been installed and is working
- Pool Furniture - no update
- Pool: outdoor switch for fans - This has been installed and is working
- Grey poles near the street - We had a few residents ask about these; they are for power connections and will all eventually be removed
- Trees/Bushes that were removed from the front of the clubhouse - Some trees/bushes that used to be in front of the clubhouse were removed; we asked Kuester to investigate this and asked if they will be replaced
- Clubhouse facade - the damage to the clubhouse facade has been repaired
- Lock on the Men's Bathroom pool: Last time I checked this had not been fixed so I asked Kuester to check on it again
- Underwater lights at pool - Meritage/Kuester were not interested in investigating why these do not work since the pool closes at dusk
- Pool furniture - no update yet
- Wifi at clubhouse - we asked Kuester to investigate if wifi could be added to the clubhouse for a small incremental cost (since we have to pay to have a phone there for 911 anyways)
- Pool closing - The pool will be open until September 20th, 2015.

SECOND ANNUAL END OF SUMMER COMMUNITY PARTY
This years end of summer community party will be held on Saturday August 29th,2015
The fun will start at 2:00 pm to 7 pm.
Sign up to enter the Pulled Pork Cook-off Challenge.
Hula Hoop contest for the kids and adults
Lawn games for the adults and kids
Bring your bathing suit and a small covered dish to share with your neighbors
The community will supply the dogs, buns and soda
To show our communities appreciation to our local fire department and paramedics we have invited them to join us. They have served many of our residents this past year.
Rules to enter the cook-off: 1 medium size pork butt, serving spoon and your favorite recipe
Rules for the Hula Hoop contest - bring a hula hoop
We are also looking for volunteers to organize lawn games for the children and adults
Please contact Linda or me if you are interested in signing up for the cook-off, volunteering to organize lawn games and help clean up.
Please RSVP so we know how to prepare for this community event.

Community Update - 7/15/2015
Bells Crossing Residents,
I wanted to share some recent updates from Meritage and also let you know about some changes to the website and our new mailing list.
- We now have a mailing list that we will use to share updates with the community. Note that this will work differently from the old e-mail distribution. If you reply to any messages sent out on the list that reply will only go to the advisory board (Bells.Crossing.HOA@gmail.com).
- Also, if you have any issues/questions about the community for Meritage/Kuester feel free to send them to Bells.Crossing.HOA@gmail.com.
- We did some work on the website and you'll now see an option to sign-up for the mailing list there. I'm going to work on a way to let all (especially new) residents know about the website and the e-mail list, but in the interim if you know anyone who'd like to receive these updates please direct them to the website: http://bellscrossingnc.blogspot.com/ where they can sign up.
- I've subscribed everyone from the old e-mail distribution to the new mailing list. If for any reason you'd like to unsubscribe an e-mail address there will be a link to do so at the bottom of this (and all future) e-mail.
- We had a conference call with Meritage and Kuester today and received some updates on various Amenities and issues:
= Sport Court - There was a delay due to one of the poles being in the wrong spot. Coloring will hopefully happen this week and the court should be ready for use in 2-3 weeks.
= Water Pressure - The pumps have been installed. We asked Meritage to verify that they are in and working since I personally have not noticed any difference in water pressure.
= Boat Storage - The pad is finished and the fence is up. They still need to put up signs for each space and run power for the gate. Anticipated completion time is 2-3 weeks. We were told that Kuester will notify those with storage spots.
= Area behind Swimming pool - Meritage has ordered playground equipment, benches and landscaping to be installed in this area. We were told that the equipment alone cost 35-40K so hopefully it will be quite nice. Anticipated completion time is 60+ days.
= Lakefront Amenity - they are still finishing up the permitting for this and anticipate construction to start in the fall. The plan is to have a Cabana type structure with bathrooms and power.
= Streetlights - A few homeowners have expressed concern over the intensity of the new streetlights. Duke power can install a refraction shield on the lights causing issues. If you have a light adjacent to your home and would like a refraction shield installed please e-mail Bells.Crossing.HOA@gmail.com by the end of next week
= Irrigation - The irrigation south of the entrance is definitely working, we are having Meritage verify that it is also working north of the entrance as some of the bushes look dried out there
= Pool Cover - Kuester is obtaining quotes for a pool cover that is planned to be purchased prior to the pool closing this fall
= Pool Water Fountain - The outdoor water fountain at the pool is in place, but it is not working quite yet as some additional electrical work was required. This should be done by the end of the week.
= Pool Furniture - Kuester is having a furniture repair person take a look at the furniture and is also continuing to investigate the warranty status of the furniture
= Pool: switch for fans/lights - Kuester said there is now an outside switch for the outdoor fans/lights
= Field behind pool - Meritage and Kuester are going to let the landscaping company know that they must consistently take care of the large field behind the pool if they want to continue servicing our community
